Polythene Feeder
ha ha this is the ****!!!!!!, 29 Aug 2007 so then this where it all began then really(not including the mini album). and i for one think this is the best,and the most consistent,the other albums are all very impressive but they all have a track here or there that i want to skip and this one doesnt have that holding it back, every song is fantastic in all their different ways. from the quirky pop rock of polythene girl and cement through to the heavy grungy rock of stereo world and tangerine to the just epic and majestic radiation and descent. the real secret is that although a bit noisier than the later output the songs were still held together buy grant nicholas's fantastic voice and introspective lyrics. these form the main hooks of all the songs!!!! proof is int ehpudding and my perfect day will be stuck in your head for days!!!!! absolutley brilliant.....but i would say if you have discovered feeder through pushing the senses approach this one delicately as it quite a different beast to what they are now! death metal

0 of 1 people found the following review helpful: oh the memories, 28 Aug 2007 this is a cracking album. 1 because of the sheer size of the thing and the value offered because of that and 2 because of the quality of the songs on display. feeder were always on eof those bands that would put out 3 versions of their singles and every version had different songs on it and because of that it lead to there being a hell of alot of songs out there by them. at their most prolific these songs were consistently great,in the early days that is and that is where the majority of these songs are picked from. it display expertly how the band have evolved even better than the singles collection in my eyes!!! the downside being that a few of my faves are missing but on the plus side my fave feeder song of all time "undivided" is here for the rest of the world to finally see!!!! a great collectio well worth checking out!!! death metal

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: masterpeice, 27 Aug 2007 this film is absolutely stunning in every last detail. the script is great, very funny and the voice casting is perfect and the actors really breathe some life into the script. unsurprisingly it looks amazing,even slightly slicker than the nightmare before christmas and the songs are phenominally catchy!!!! danny elfman for a knighthood soon i hope. the story then....ok victor is going to his arranged marriage but keeps getting his vows wrong and goes out into the woods to pratice, he says them to what he thinks i s a tree stump and ends up married to a dead girl!!! i know it sounds odd but it all makes sense at the time! but he then has to make the decision as to whether stay in the afterlife when he finds out that it is actually quite good fun down ther or to go back to his dreary existence in the realm of the living!!! and somehow all of this is crammed into a little over 70 minutes of film!!! so you dont need much of an attention span for it!!! and it is cute enough that most children will be able to watch it alongside the adults utter genius from start to finish!! death metal

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: a pleasant surprise, 26 Aug 2007 this is a great little show and im glad the dvd has arrived. i fisrt watched it on channel 5 if im honest purely for the prospect of jodi albert in a small outfit. that happens....alot...but on the plus side it was also very,very,very funny with some cracking lines that give a good giggle and atleast one huge laugh out loud moment per show. the acting is top rate and the humour is surprisingly older in style...almost carry on in style at times. well worth a look if you dont expect a cheap sustitute for soft core porn!! death metal

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful: oh dear, 26 Aug 2007 this film is poor. the direction is sub standard,the fx are ok but not great, the acting is boneheaded rubbish from a pretty poor script and what little plot there is is mauled by the terrible editing. the standard lost contact with a distant outpost thing that needs saving type thingy forms the basis of the plot. instead of the beasties being hell spawn like the game they are mutants!!!! rubbish. the only saving grace is that there is a really well done sequence at the end where it goes full on first person shooter and its awesome. but then it just reverts back to guff!!!! avoid...or just play the game for like 2 hours and you will have the same...no sorry a better effect death metal
				The Descent [2005] Dvd ~ Shauna Macdonald
0 of 2 people found the following review helpful: hell yes, 26 Aug 2007 right then another nice cheap brit horror filck!!! but the difference being that this one is pretty dammed good!!! the basic story is there only to put the characters in a spot where creepy things can happen!!! so all the better for it then!! the story is about a group of adrenaline junky women who go caving in an incharted set of caves and get trapped. once they are trapped they find some strange cannibal things who unsurpisingly try to eat them....cue much splatter. this film works really well if you dont like tight spaces as the caving scenes are really uncomfortable and then it satisfies the gore hounds at the end. so in short it ticks all the boxes. the direction is fantastic and the soundtrack ooozes atmosphere, the acting is just above standard horror fare so score another there too. the script is the standard horror guff but the film just rips along at a frantic pace so you never get a chance to be bored. check it out its well worth a try. death metal
				Violent Demise - the Last Days Bodycount
i feel what you are doing..., 26 Aug 2007 ok then first things first....if you are easily offended do not buy this album....if you dont like harsh language by the truck load do not buy this album. if on the other hand you answer no to the above grab this album sharpish as its great. the best bit about this is the fact that although the vocalist is the mighty ice-t he is very firmly of the mind of the rocker and does very little in the way of rap and to be fair is a pretty good rock/metal vocalist. the guitar work is fantastic, a much beefier sound in comparison to the previous albums. the songs are great, veering from the downright silly and very funny "strippers" to the slightly more serious "i used to love her" and the title track where ice tells us how it is, and the worst bit is i know that he's right. in short perfect proof that rock and hip hop artists coming together can create brilliant music. death metal
				Family Guy - Season 1 [1999] Dvd ~ Seth MacFarlane
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: giggedy giggedy, 20 Aug 2007 so here is where it all began!!!! and yes this is very,very,very funny. the animation is a bit clunkier and the scripts are a bit softer in comparison to what would come later. the main focus in these early episodes are pretty much peter and stewie, witha little bit of time for brian, the rest of the family just seem to be there to fill up the screen and as such this feels a little one dimensional in comparison to what would come later. the support characters too suffer in the fact that there is again very little time for them. but that said the jokes come thick and fast and the shows just fly past. death metal

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful: good but have done better, 20 Aug 2007 ok then this isnt the best season of family guy but it is still very,very funny. yes ok the humour has drifted slightly towards a cruder level but it is still funny and the best bit is that it isnt repeating itself. each episode is unique and the support characters are really starting to stake a claim in the stories. there is less of the family and more of stewie and brian....which for me works just fine!!!! the main highlight being stewie beating the hell out of brian!!!! that for me will never get old!!!! death metal

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: tredding water, 8 Aug 2007 mnemic are,sorry were a fantastic band the expertly blended the electronic elements of fear factory with the noisy thrash of meshuggah. a quite unique and effective sound. it would appear that now they have abbandoned the noisy element and have gone for a slightly harsher sounding fear factory feel to their music. unsurprising really considering christian olde wolbers produced this album! so ok the songs are ok,they arent great and they arent bad,they just feel very,very samey,and not even half as unique as they did. the new vocalist fills the shoes of michael very well but the cold harshness in their sound that made them sound alot heavier than most and gave them a cold sharp egde has now gone. "in the nothingness black" and "psykorgasm" are great songs but the rest just blur into one with little varity and pace,style,structure or difference for want of a better word! a shame really considering how much better the other albums are

				Braindead [1993] Dvd ~ Elizabeth Moody
splatter...everywhere, 12 Sep 2007 right then if you dont like splatter and truck loads of gore all over the place avoid this film....if you have a weak stomach or are upset easily aviod this film....if on the other hand you do like the above and you havent seen this film then buy it right now!! this film has got enough gore to fuel 30 hostels!!!!! and in a pleasant change its actually very,very good!!! a cracking script with some wicked one liners and fantastic direction by the mighty peter jackson. if you are only aware of peter jackson from the rings films then step very carefully with checking this out as it is quite a change of pace and style!! but as out and out splatterfests go this is easily one of the best ever made! death metal

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: night of the werewolves?, 12 Sep 2007 ok then so here we have night of the living dead but with werewolves instead of zombies. is that a bad thing? hell no!!!! because this is a decidedly british horror film!!!! ie no budget but great actors and a fantastic script that never takes itself too seriously. the direction is cracking and makes use of the claustrophobic elements of being trapped in a house overnight. the basic premise of the plot is that a bunch of squadies are used as bait for some werewolves and make a run for it!!! the performances are spot on all the way especially kevin mckidd and the moral side of the story and sean pertwee and the sgt. plus where else will you ever see a squadie have a fist fight with a werewolf and a werewolf getting hit in the face with a frying pan? you see!!! utter mentalism!!!! thank you soo very much neil marshall!!!! bring on his next film soon.....please!!! death metal
				Switchblade Romance [2003] Dvd ~ Cecile De France
1 of 2 people found the following review helpful: really enjoyable, 12 Sep 2007 what we have here is a fantastic atmospheric horror with enough splatter to keep the gorehounds happy!!! the basic story is that 2 girls retire to the countryside away from distractions so that they can revise for exams, all goes well until the first night a loony shows up and slaughters the family and kidknapps one of the girls. from here on the tension is cranked all the way upto 10 and beyond and the direction is exceptional. the 2 girls but in real fullblooded performances and the film flys past at a cracking speed, there isnt a single section where you are left to get bored as something is always happening. yes ok the end will be something that people are going to argue about...but i thought it was quite clever and ust added to the sick carnival of loonacy that had gone on for the rest of the film. if you want a horror film that relies on more than just gore then this is well worth having a look at. death metal
				Regular Urban Survivors Terrorvision
perfect, 6 Sep 2007 this is one of the best albums released in the 90's, hell its probably one of my fave albums of all time. because there isnt a single bad song on this album....nope nothing not a single part out of place. everything is perfect. the songs are fantastic pop rock with a knowing nod to their more metallic roots. it had a big album to compare to and i think it does an exceptional job of equalling and surpassing its predecessor. plus you gotta love the bond theme running through to whole just to remind you that we arent to take it too seriously!!! death metal
				Good to Go Terrorvision
and out with a bang, 6 Sep 2007 so then the final studio album from surely bradfords favourite sons of rock. is it any good? well i think a resounding yes is the answer. all the boxes are ticked for a cracking TV album....foolish artwork? yes silly song titles? yes(goldmine jamjar anyone?) and the best bit.....amazingly catchy headbangy,dancy,jump around and singalong out loud songs? oh hell yes!!!! the songs veer from silly and bouncy(d'ya wanna go faster,alone and fists of fury) through to indiesque pop rock(sometimes id like to kill her and unhappy millionaire) and they even through in a nice slow one too(from out of nothing). throughout the songs are great,the riffs are great and very catchy and tony does only what tony wright can do!!!!!! i love this album and i think it is only pipped to the top spot by the mighty regular urban survivors as TV's best work. well worth chucking a couple of bucks at!! death metal
				Legion of Flames Zimmers Hole
utter nonsense, 29 Aug 2007 this album is very,very,very,very,very silly. yes it really is that silly and it is a very good thing too! in a nice change away from all the seriousness of metal this an album about how great metal is and how much fun it can be at the same time. featuring members from unit:187 and strapping young lad unsurprisingly the music awesome and with a production from devin townsend the sound is impeccable. what they do so well is take your favourite metal songs and bands and turn them into very funny homages to them. the mighty "evil robots" with its cracking line "napster,napster wheres the cash that ive been after" awesome!!!!!!!!! great riffs that we already know and love twisted into great new forms for us to love again!!!! go get some now i promise you wont be disappointed!! death metal
				Echo Park Feeder
the breaker, 29 Aug 2007 this is the album where feeder went from indie rock also rans to festival headliners!!! the reason....."buck rogers" its that simple.....it is a song that grant had been threatening to write for years....the one that finally snagged the radio and a whole new set of adoring fans with it. yes it is relentlessly simplistic....but the best songs usually are....the trick is making it stay in your head....and that is where this album scores big points...easily the most accessable and the catchiest thing that feeder has released...the songs everywhere have got great guitar melodies and huge choruses. grants lyrics went a bit odd on this album but he still manages to squeeze a few good ones in here and there. the magic of this album is that it managed to combine a fantastic new sounding band with the style of some of the older songs, witness "oxygen" that could have easily sat on polythene and the great quirky pop that is "piece by piece" that feels like a yesterday went too soon track. a cracking little record and the one that brought them to the masses death metal
				Swim: Re-Surfaced Feeder
cracking, 29 Aug 2007 this little mini album is great. the songs a re a;ot simpler than what was to come owning much more to a punky/grunge mish mash. all the pieces are in place for what was to come though....great melodies and catchy hooks all over the place. stereo world will become one of your favourite songs....ever....fact!!! yes they do sound immature in comparison....but well they are old songs written by a band finding their feet....most other bands would still be releasing their demo at this stage in their career but feeder had gottne themselves signed and have done almost all of their growing up in the public eye. i love this album as its very close in style to polythene and alot faster and heavier than what was to come. i would say its essential for the completist but not for the passing fan if you are new to feeder through pushing the senses try the other stuff before this!!! its a million miles away from where they are now death metal
				Comfort in Sound Feeder
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: the last good one, 29 Aug 2007 here feeder really take the foot off the gas and recorded a mini masterpiece you get the feeling that grant is using music as therapy on this one to recover form the passing of jon lee....the downside being that usually the best music comes from the most negative of feelings. its a shame that it took the death of someone close to bring out such maturity and beautiful songwriting from feeder. the songs on this album are alot slower and quieter than all the previous efforts and is where feeder started to lose some of their core fanbase who felt they were drifting away from their original sound but for me this is an album that they had to make and they fluffed it with the next dismal release. but still the songs on this one are just majestic,towering peices of stadium filling sing along glory. my personal faves being moonshine and the appropriately titled comfort in sound that pretty much sums up the whole album. give it a try its a beautifully tragic masterpiece death metal
				Yesterday Went Too Soon Feeder
good second album, 29 Aug 2007 so then feeder did slow down a little for this one. the overall feel of this album is a little more indie than the slightly noisier sounds of the previous album. the production is a little lighter putting more emphasis on grants fantastic voice and lowerin the guitars in the mix. the songwriting has moved on aswell....drifting to a poppier feel with an even greater emphasis on the melodies. there is still some bite in the band as shown on "amnesia" and "pictures of perfect youth"....but even these faster songs are held together by monster choruses!!!! the real change is in the greater use of atmospherics and the acoustic guitar. the songs are more introverted and reflective than the previous album. i would say that this is a better follow up purchase for later fans than polythene as it is closer in style to what you already like.
