Film no 29 the cook
a supposedly comedy/horror about a deranged cook who shows up at a female sorority house as their new cook(does this really happen? damn!)and over the course of the film, the weekend we see him hack them up and feed them to each other.
not that any of them would notice as they are either high(apparently everyone in college is these days) or having lesbian sex with each other.
quite clearly this is a film that has been very much designed for guys, considering the vast amount of pointless and gratuitous nudity on display, add in the senseless violence and yeah you have one perfectly designed men only sorta film.
the trouble is you would need to be as high as the idiots in the film to enjoy this lurid garbage.
this film has no redeeming features. its cheap badly made sleazy horror.
bad acting, lazy direction, no scares, no tension, bad FX, more bad acting and a truly terrible soundtrack, actually the sound itself is a massive failure, whoever set up the mics for the cast needs to be hit with bricks as he or she did a terrible job and most of the cast sound as if they are talking to each other from the next room, just awful and another nail in the coffin for this nasty piece of work.
DO NOT WATCH!

Film no 30 The little girl who lives down the lane
this is a very odd film.
not particularly enjoyable either.
a very young jodie foster is very good doing what she does best, but the film was just a bit too odd for me.
as such i really didnt enjoy this one.

Film no 31 Secretary
I love this film!!!!
its brilliant on pretty much every level.
A young lady who has issues with self harm is released from her therapy and let loose into the real world where she needs to learn how to cope and deal with the real world, after discovering she has a knack for typing she applies for a job working for a local lawyer as his secretary.
over the course of several weeks/months its never that clear she develops within the job and the relationship between our 2 leads develops.
despite the slightly suggestive nature of the story and look of the film box, i got some seriously shifty looks when i purchased my copy in my local Asda, at this films core is traditional love story, acknowledged told through some slightly more twisted conventions than usual, but its because of that and the superb performances of the leads that make this film so wonderful to watch.
