The Green Book

The Green Book
Twiztid

5.0 out of 5 stars the beast, 24 Oct 2007
ok first things first....this is the best twiztid album so far in their career..including "independents day".
the sheer quality of the songs on display here easily outstrip everything else that they have done before or since and established them as the kings of psychopathic....where they rightfully belong.
this is the best album (for me) to be released on psychopathic records!!
but why is it so good? i honestly cant pick one reason over anything else except that the songs are amazing...all 21 of them!!!! there really isnt a bad song on this album...no filler...nothing drawn out too long to make up time....every last second is perfectly executed.
the beats are thumping...the raps are moving and sharp and tight and the delivery is dizzying.
the lyrics are insightful and thought provoking and very very well put together and the delivery is insane.
the real surprises are the changes in style and pace of the real standout tracks such as "im the only one" or the exceptionally groovy "serial killa" with the best guest vocal on the album from tech n9ne and then the dark and disturbing final double header of "hom-sha-bom" and "darkness".
every great band has an album in them when everything goes right and some bands blow it....other like this make an untouchable masterpiece that they may get close to equalling but never bettering and here twiztid have made that masterpiece.
if you are new to the psychopathic then this is a very good place to start and if you have some of the other twiztid albums but dont have this yet the believe me this is the best one and you need to get your hands on it.

Mutant Vol.2

Mutant Vol.2
Twiztid

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty dammed good!, 24 Oct 2007
ok then so at the same time that the clown posse released their bizaar/bizzar double sets the boys in twiztid dropped the two mans myth and mutant cuts.
mans myth is the more obviusly hip hop of the two and here in mutant is a slightly more rock/punk feel to proceedings.
this is not an album i ever thought i would hear twiztid produce.
it is a cracking album with the boys really expanding their sound.
as i mentioned earlier the influence of rock and punk is here for all to see...and the songs are all the better for it and it helps to give the album a fresh feel and a more creative feel to the whole affair.
the silly raps about drugs and girls are still present on the hip hop songs but on the heavier and angrier songs such as "get off of me" and "respirator" a new level of aggresion and feeling of the lyrics comes through and the songs become insanely catchy with real choruses.
fritz the cat helps the boys with the music and the usual guest rear their heads in the forms of the clowns and blaze and ABK all do their part to help the album just fly by in a blur of riffs, raps and harsh language.
if you are a fan then this is a worthy addition to the collection and if you are new you could start in a worse place.

Bizaar

Bizaar
Insane Clown Posse

4.0 out of 5 stars indeed, 23 Oct 2007
right then so one half of the bizaar/bizzar double package.
is it any good?
i think so yes!!
as always the wierd intro leads very nicely into the chaos that soon follows!!
the songs on this one seem to have a little more of a rock feel to them that any of the others that i ahve heard form the clowns before.
it has the feel of a nice mix and match stlye to the album where you never know what they are going to try next and it keeps you on your toes through out and as always they diss pretty much everything that moves and im sure some things that dont in their own little way!!!
especially the mighty emimen diss of "please dont hate me" which in all honesty is worth the asking price alone!!!
twiztid pop up here and there and lend their own little touches to some cracking tunes!!!
this is a very hit and miss album probably due to the fact that it was part of a two album dual release set and because of that they seem to have added a few filler songs to pad the albums out.
but overall its a good album....not their best but still a worthy addition.

The Wraith

The Wraith
Insane Clown Posse

4.0 out of 5 stars nice way to end the carnival, 23 Oct 2007
ok so here we have the final jokers card...of sorts as is was twinned with the slightly later released hells pit.
this is the ying to the pits yang and the final twist in the dark carnival where the boys round everything up and tie up all the loose ends.
so is it any good?
well without mike e clarke on board they do loose a little of the fluidity and variety that make their earlier work so ecclectic and so varied so with that in mind this album sounds a little stripped down in comparison.
but thats not to say that the boys havent rested on their laurels...they have tried to push the scope of their sound further if anything and have left with a slightly more electronic feel to alot of the work and they songs are a little more hit and miss in comparison to the earlier work.
but this album is definately a grower, after my first listen i was all set to torch the thing and curse their name until they died and just wosrhip at the house of twiztid. but as with all their work there is always a few immediate stand out tracks that made me go back to listen to the album and its here that the rest of the songs slowly start to creep into your mind!
this is a very good album...not their best by a long way but still a very good album that improves with every listen!!!!
plus all the usual suspects show up to give the boys a hand in the form of twiztid and esham and ABK and blaze!!! so in short the family are down with it as is pretty much every other juggalo ive spoken to!!!!
but if you are new to the carnival i would suggest starting with milenko or riddlebox as they are the aces amongst the jokers cards!!!

One-X [Australian Import]

One-X [Australian Import]
Three Days Grace

5.0 out of 5 stars damm them, 23 Oct 2007
ok so this album is sooooo annoying because its so painfully perfect!
there is nothing new or different about this album but it is so damm good.
the songs are so simple and so effective. they set up home in your head for days...no wait a minute make that weeks!!!!
the songs are very much in the hard rock and grunge vein, but what separates this band out form the rest of the crowd is the phenominal voice of the singer...the man manages to imbue his lyrics with such feeling and emotion its hard not to be swept away by the whole song.
its not to say that they dont have some heads down rock songs...wintess animal i have become or the ripping riot.
but for me this lot are at their best being slower and more reflective on songs such as the slow burner get out alive and never too late.
but my personal fave has got to be the mighty gone forever that slowly builds to a monster chorus that will stick with you till the day you die.
the only way to avoid this lot is to ignore them completely because if you do let just the one song pass your ears you will have to get the rest.
dont say you havent been warned!!

5.0 out of 5 stars who be in the area?, 21 Sep 2007
right then this album rocks!!!!
in every sense of the word!!! the music is a bizarre mixture of metal and reggae, with a little punk thrown in here and there.
the reason it all works is this simple....the tunes are top quality. very groovy metal with more funk than you could banga a head at.
and then the real ace of the pack is the singer benji who is quite frankyl scary. the guy can hit notes....perfectly and beautifully and he can do the speedy ragga spitting and then just to scare the life out of you he has a scream that can knock down a wall from 50 yards.
put simply there really is no one else out there who is making music this unique or this well and the best bit is that the whole thing just feels so positive its hard not to enjoy listening to this album it just perks you up and lifts you up beyond everything!!!!
it is also easily one of the most complete albums i have heard in a long time!!!
bring on the next one please!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars pure nu metal, 21 Sep 2007
this band are so nu metal that it almost hurts.
but the thing is that they were always a little bit better than the rest purely because they didnt do the whole whinney ive been abused when i was younger rubbish.
the songs are a little bit more universal and they have some nice upbeat bouncy songs.
they are a little more hip hop influenced than some of the other nu metal pack aswell. this is aided by having a vocalist who is exceptionally versatile. the boy can rap shout and growl with the best of them and his talents lend themselves perfectly to the noise that (hed)pe choose to make.
if you dont like nu metal this lot arent gonna convince you but if you are new to the genre you do alot worse than give this debut a spin.

this is phenominal.
its that simple. i very much doubt that anyone will ever cram so much into a debut album ever again.
there is a little something for everyone on thisa album...the quiet quirky little melodies keep the indie kids happy but the band have got far too much energy to play it safe and rock out all over the place ending almost all the songs in a wall of noise and guitars.
and that is where this album scores the big points....all the energy its hard not to get sucked into it all and not to enjoy the ride.
if you think how led zeppelin would sound if they wer dragged kicking and screaming upto modern day then this is how they would sound.
and what a great sound it is too!

4.0 out of 5 stars wow, 16 Sep 2007
here we have one of the best debuts ever recorded and the jump off point for a band that have been criminally overlooked in this country.
yes ok they are unashamedly nu metal but they do a much better job than almost all of their contemparies.
they have a unerving knack for making very heavy music and making it ridiculously catchy.
they have some insane breakdowns and the beats are hard and heavy and come thick and fast.
think rage against the machine meets incubus....the passion of the singer just oozes out of every word he spits, raps or sings.
the vocals are clean, clear and very passionate in all their forms of delivery.
if you want to hear how nu metal could have sounded when done well then this is well worth checking out.

5.0 out of 5 stars the don mega, 13 Sep 2007
this is quite possibly the best rap record ever dropped!!!
everything is so perfectly realised, the beats are fast and fresh and very, very funky.
chuck d and flava drop their best raps ever, and display a level of social awareness that is still scarily relevant to this day.
the tunes are top drawer hip hop that has stood the test of time and still sound as vital and electrifying as the very first day i heard them.
utter genius!!!!!
all you need to know about this masterpiece of political statements to the one of the greatest party soundtracks ever to hit the decks is that it contains "black steel in the hour of choas","she watch channel zero","bring the noise","dont believe the hype" and the mighty "night of the living baseheads".
all utterly top songs that make this album worth owning alone!!!!!
if you wanna see why hip hop would go on to become the biggest genre in the world you need to see where it started and this is as good a place as any!!!
and not even a nation of millions could hold them back!!!
